Social Value

We are committed to embedding social value into every project we undertake.

We believe in fostering strong, lasting connections within the local community by ensuring transparency, active engagement, and tangible, long-term benefits for residents, local businesses, and community organisations.

We prioritise local employment and inclusive growth

We are committed to hiring outstanding individuals and nurturing talent from within the communities we work in.

  • We prioritise candidates living near our project locations and support flexible working arrangements for those returning to employment.
  • By 2026, we plan to expand our workforce with a dedicated apprenticeship programme, helping to develop the next generation of construction professionals.

We consider the immediate and long-term impacts of construction

Minimising Disruption
As a company that registers as a Considerate Constructor, we prioritise respectful and efficient delivery of works. We keep those potentially affected by construction activity informed at every stage, while working to reduce inconvenience and uphold high standards of site management.

Delivering Lasting Social Value

  • We partner with local organisations to create employment and training opportunities, including apprenticeships, upskilling schemes, and return-to-work programmes.
  • Local suppliers and subcontractors are given priority wherever possible to stimulate the local economy and keep value within the community.
  • Environmental and community engagement metrics are monitored through a suite of Key Performance Indicators, reinforcing our accountability and commitment.

We strive to create a lasting community legacy

At Bloom, we believe that every project should leave a lasting legacy. Our social value commitments include:

  • Charitable and Voluntary Work: We support community organisations by delivering refurbishment projects at cost and volunteering time and resources. Our aim is to always have at least one of these initiatives in progress.
  • Material Reuse: Surplus materials are repurposed for schools and community groups, promoting a circular economy and reducing waste.
  • Community Workshops: We host sessions for local residents, covering topics such as sustainability, DIY skills, and careers in construction, often in partnership with local initiatives.

Our community engagement approach

Collaborative Planning
From the outset, we invite all stakeholders to contribute to shaping our project methodologies. This inclusive approach ensures we protect the local environment, minimise disruption, and respond thoughtfully to the needs of residents and businesses, all while maintaining the continuity of day-to-day community life.

Regular Updates

  • We provide consistent project updates via newsletters, local media, and online platforms to keep the community informed of key milestones and sustainability initiatives.
  • Drop-in sessions and virtual briefings are offered to give residents direct access to our team, enabling them to ask questions and receive timely, accurate information.

On-Site Engagement

  • We organise guided site tours to give residents a behind-the-scenes insight into the construction process.
  • Educational sessions, such as careers talks led by our Managing Director, introduce local people to opportunities within the construction sector – from skilled trades to project management.

At Bloom, we don’t just aim to deliver projects — we aim to enrich lives and create opportunities. By embedding social value into our practices, engaging meaningfully with communities, and focusing on long-term impact, we ensure that our work benefits not only the built environment but the people within it.
