Sustainability

A Founding Principle

At Bloom, we recognise the importance of sustainability and the need for businesses to align with national and global efforts to combat climate change. As a company committed to a net zero future, we are in the process of preparing our first Carbon Reduction Plan and Net Zero commitments in compliance with PPN-0621.

As an SME, our carbon emissions remain low, primarily due to our use of serviced office space. These emissions are accounted for by our office host, The Society Building. We take our responsibility very seriously and are focused on continuously improving our carbon impact across all areas of operation.

Net Zero: A Measurable Commitment

We are committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030, if not sooner. By reducing the carbon footprint of both our operations and our projects, we aim to set an example for sustainability in construction. Our work with partners such as Alphacello, QFlow, and local suppliers ensures we remain on track to meet these ambitious goals.

As we progress towards finalising our Carbon Reduction Plan and Net Zero commitments, we are dedicated to transparency and will keep stakeholders informed of our milestones and achievements.

We Are Actively Driving Down Carbon Emissions

Sustainability is no longer optional in construction—it’s essential. At Bloom, we approach it not as a single initiative but as a mindset that informs every decision we make, from pre-construction through to project handover. We understand the built environment’s role in the climate crisis and are committed to reducing our footprint while helping our clients meet their own environmental goals.

This means looking beyond short-term gains and embracing smarter, leaner, more circular ways of building. Our sustainability strategy is grounded in real data, clear action, and accountability at every level of our business. We’re not just adapting to change—we’re driving it, embedding low-carbon thinking into the way we plan, design, build, and operate. The result is a delivery model that prioritises long-term performance, responsible resource use, and meaningful environmental outcomes—without compromising on quality or functionality.

Sustainable Design

We integrate energy-efficient designs, passive building techniques, and renewable energy technologies to minimise environmental impact.

The Circular Economy

We prioritise reusing construction materials and partnering with suppliers who provide recyclable and sustainable products.

Energy Efficiency

Our efforts extend to implementing low-carbon technologies and energy performance modelling to meet strict standards such as BREEAM and LEED.

Waste Reduction

We conduct comprehensive waste audits, employ on-site recycling, and work with partners to ensure minimal landfill waste. This is already being tracked and reported on using QFlow auditing software on many of our projects.

A Greener Workforce

We actively encourage all staff members to use the most carbon-efficient transport methods available, whether commuting to the office or travelling to project sites. We are currently surveying our team’s transport habits for the past year to establish a clear baseline for future improvements.

Leading by Example, Building for Impact

As a retrofit-first contractor, we recognise our unique position—and responsibility—to lead the transition to low-carbon construction. That means collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to raise standards and share best practices across the industry.

We don’t wait for regulations to dictate what’s next. We anticipate, test, and evolve. Whether we’re supporting clients through embodied carbon assessments, advising on reuse strategies, or piloting new materials, we’re always looking for ways to make sustainability practical, scalable, and measurable.

We’re also committed to continuous improvement within our own business. From low-carbon procurement policies to internal sustainability training, we’re embedding climate literacy into our culture—because real change starts from within.

By delivering buildings that perform better, last longer, and impact less, we’re not just meeting the brief—we’re helping to futureproof the places where people live, work, and connect.

We love partnering with companies like Bloom Construction who share our commitment to sustainability. We were glad Qflow could provide the tools Bloom needed to track and manage key environmental data, helping them hit their targets and keep their projects on a low-carbon path.
